Nice reps. visit first

Hello again, although my initial plans was to blog every day it seems that with my current work schedule it is a little difficult so I will se what can I do regarding that soon. Any way, if you are a medical rep or a sales rep you will relate to what I am about to say especially if you work in the meddle east. We have the bad habit that we visit doctors with out appointments, we go to the hospitals we wait in fronting the doctors' office and we wait until he is free and then we start to rush in as if we are a floc of cattle. You might think that this makes life easy, but it doesn't. You see the problem come from the fact that it is absolutely normal that the nurse let a patient in while you are in the meddle of your call, or you might be the rep number 10 who visit the doctor that day, which mean that all the response that you get is just some unclear mumbles or false buying signals just that the doctor wanna get rid of you!
One of many challenges that we also face are patients who set quietly in the waiting area looking peaceful and friendly and they wait until you enter the doctor room and then cause a big fuss about it, then you find the head of security asking you in an artificial respect to leave the hospital, you look the the doctor hopping that he shows any courage at all and that he tells them that he wants you to stay cause you are telling him information that can help save lives, but no, no no no no... He smiles and tells you let's talk next time. To be honest writing about it makes me angry, but when I think logically about it I understand, we have reps in the region promoting 17 products, I know some of them even, and they talk to the doctors about them at once, and they do that by showing the doctors a list of all their products using the worst sales pitches ever" I am here to remind you about..." and he or she start mentioning the names of the 17 products, how do we expect them to recognize all that, and what would be the idea that they would get about our job.

Chaos is the name of the game, and although chaos means the lack of system or discipline, it has a very good side, if you can be a nice person, and can establish good relation with the nurses and security, your life as a rep would be as nice as walking in a garden, and it would be your ultimate access card to the doctors, and in such case it really doesn't matter how much fuss the patients will do cause your relation got your back, and it doesn't matter are you professional or not, care about human lives or not, cause at the end of the day nice reps. Visit first.

The beginning

Good evening everybody(although I don't know how many actually will read this) but I would like to believe that some will find this interesting to read. My name is Mr.representative , and no that's not the name my mom and dad gave me, but it represent how I feel after doing my job for 6 years to date. I work as a medical representative in a multinational pharmaceutical company, and it is really funny how things look a lot different from inside, I used to wish to work in my company when I was in college, I even used to adore it's logo, but now after working in that company for 6 years I started to realize -I know it is late- that not all the things that shine are gold. I don't want any one to think that I am using this blog to attack my company or to have a personal vendetta with any of the managers where I work, maybe that would happen in the future who knows, but for now I just wanna share with every one in this field my ideas, opinions, and feelings about what we do, and how did we allowed our selves to be raced like race dogs for a promise of a better future, a promotion, or a thank you note, I know that we save lives every day and that we play a key role in the global health care system, no one can deny that, the pharmaceutical companies lobby is one of the most strongest lobby's in the united state (watch sycho if you didn't) but I can't stop the feeling that I am being used, I don't know what about you, but I believe that you might felt the same at one point and hence come the title of this blog, when I first thought about it I couldn't hold back a smile as it reminded me of a TV show called A Diary of a call girl (if you are over 18 and didn't watch it you should) of course I am not comparing our job with the oldest profession in the history, but we can't deny that some people in the field whore them selves for their customers that they can be call reps. that doesn't differ a lot from a call girl except that he or she are dressed formally.

Ok so that was an introduction and from now on I will be sharing certain topics with all of you every now and then and hopefully you might find things that interest you.
